1 What does Kannegieter do?
Goedegebuur: “Kannegieter has been active in the Dutch market for communications infrastructure for more than forty years. As the lar-gest distributor in Benelux and -Germany, we follow the rapid evolution of integral networks closely; we therefore have a wide range of products. Within the Kannegieter range we also have products by our supplier Minkels. Minkels is specialized in housing systems for computer networks and data centers in the telecom and IT sectors. Minkels has been a Sofon customer for many years. As a distributor for Minkels we were given the opportunity to start using Sofon for configurations and quotations in 2004.”
2 What have the biggest changes been since Sofon was implemented?
Polt: “Previously, we used Excel for calculations. There was a risk of error in that. Because of the way Sofon is set up, options are ruled out if they are impossible within the configuration in question. For example, we will never send out a quotation for a data cabinet, where the door is wider than the cabinet itself. Apart from that, with Sofon we can independently produce a configuration for very complex, cli-ent-specific issues. The process is more efficient, which saves us a lot of time.”
3 Does Sofon satisfy your needs?
Polt: “Certainly! Thanks to Sofon, our quotations are error-free and quick to produce. And Sofon is user-friendly too!”
Goedegebuur adds: “New staff actually really like working with Sofon. They quickly become familiar with the software and the knowled-ge they need of our products. Thanks to Sofon, this knowledge can be far more easily funneled. Sofon creates order in this. New staff can be trained quickly and still have the knowledge at their fingertips that they need in a knowledge organization like Kannegieter.”
4 How do customers experience quotations?
Polt: “Our quotations are clear and concise and can be accompanied by a clear materials summary and images. Customers appreciate this.” Goedegebuur adds: “But that’s only the lay-out. We also get a lot of reactions to content. Customers tell us we understand what they need. That is good to hear. Because of Sofon, we forget nothing and supply the best company-specific advice!”
5 What will the future of Kannegieter and Sofon be?
Goedegebuur: “At the moment we only use Sofon for the Minkels products. But a tool like Sofon would also be a good option for our other products. We could use Sofon as a webportal, where online calculations and configurations could be made.”
